Villa Romolini immobiliare di lusso is situated in one of the most sought after areas of the Umbrian countryside. This fully restored farmhouse enjoys some of the most outstanding and unspoiled views of the Niccone Valley incorporating the 14th century castle of St Andrea di Sorbello and the recently restored San Paolo monastery on the Reschio estate.

All bedrooms, living room and dining room have a wood burning stove as an alternative to the full gas central heatingA glass door off the living room gives private access to stairs to the master suite which occupies the entire upper floor of nearly 50 square meters. Once again the abundance of windows (seven in this suite) gives the natural light that can be so hard to come by in these thick walled structures. The master bathroom has modern fixtures and fittings and gives the opportunity to absorb the outstanding view whilst bathing.A curved edged 10 x 5 heated pool is situated on a lower terrace. A second pergola for reading with sun shades for pool side relaxation. The pool equipment is located in an underground bunker which is also convenient for storing sun beds and outdoor furniture in the winter. The annex has been re built and houses the water treatment equipment and boiler for the house. For further information go to our site www.abode.it or click on the link above.

Abode Italian Real Estate on Facebook

I have spent the last hour trying to get a RSS feed from our facebook account to our twitter account and also to have this blog redirected to our facebook which in turn will send it directly to our Twitter account. I went to art school and when I left the computer department was a cupboard with three spotty students with thick bottle glasses, therefore I find this a challenge. In fact I think the name Geek hadn't even been invented. What I find frustrating is that if you want to update your website, blogs, facebook and twitter accounts you end up spending most of your day doing just this. Why can't they all get together and have one super BLOG that updates all your accounts? Time for a new business venture...

Villetta del Vescovo Cortona Tuscany

This luxuriously finished Italian villa lies in a private, gated estate at the foot of Cortona, offering great accommodation as well as privacy and security.

It is one of four villas constructed on land owned by the nearby Villa del Vescovo ("Bishop's Villa") and the interior completion was overseen by the present owner. His profession as an antique dealer is evident in the materials used in the house, such as the seventeenth century front door and ancient stone fireplace in the living room. The ground floor is open plan, with entrance hall, living room with fireplace, dining room and well equipped kitchen. There is also a double bedroom complete with marble-walled ensuite bathroom. Both the bedroom and kitchen have double French doors opening out onto the covered terrace at the back of the house. The first floor is effectively one large bedroom suite with four-poster bed and fireplace, large mezzanine gallery presently used as an office, walk-in wardrobe and a fantastic bathroom. The bathroom contains Jacuzzi, large walk-in shower, double sinks set below thick marble and wall to wall mirrors which have a great effect. The basement floor contains a separate suite with large living room and fireplace, double bedroom and attractive bathroom. From this suite there is access to the garage and other store rooms that could potentially be converted to further accommodation.
The south facing side of the house has a large covered terrace with two dining tables, overlooking a large paved terrace; all of which is ideal for summer dining and entertaining. In all there are 1,500m2 of beautifully tended gardens surrounding the house. There is a swimming pool set just off to one side of the garden, which is owned communally by the four villas, but which to all intents and purposes feels like part of this house. A beautifully appointed villa in an exclusive residential estate, enjoying country views but also very close proximity to shops, bars and the beautiful town of Cortona.

Snowing in Umbria and Tuscany

My wife and son left on Friday to have their settimana bianca (White week) which is a week of skiing that most Italians take each year. There is not an official holiday, like half term in the UK but it takes place normally in the first three months of the year or until the snow melts. Believing this to be an ideal opportunity for a little bit of R and R with the boys I arranged our Friday night rendezvous. On the way home I called for the kick off time only to be informed that it was snowing. That seemed strange as I work in Perugia which is only 50km from my house and it wasn't snowing not even raining. As I approached the motorway exit I suddenly found a wall of snow. It was like someone had cut the weather with a knife. One side fine the other a bizzard. After only 1km I quickly realised that it would be impossible for me to get up my drive. Driving home became a nightmare. I finally managed to get as close as I could before abandoning the car and making my way by foot. Finally arriving at home I was in no mood to walk down again and brave the elements so unfortunately my Friday night boys night out ended with a cup of hot chocolate and a hot water bottle. The picture shows my abode the following morning. A white out that lasted until Monday morning. I'm sure the missus had something to do with it...

Villa Benedetti Ascoli Piceno Marche

If I had the money I would be buying this Italian property. To find an Italian property in this condition is almost unheard of. If like me you went through your teenage years in the seventies you will either hate or love this property. I'm the latter and could easily see myself next to the bar in my Laura Ashley smoking jacket and a dry martini in my hand.

Your comments would be appreciated.

For further information click here.

The house is located within an old estate dating back to the nineteenth century and, despite its unusual style and features, it fits perfectly the place, as masterfully planned by the artist Mariano Benedetti. The villa is built on two floors. Ground floor: huge and bright living room with large panoramic windows, super technological kitchen, space bathrooms, winter garden and an internal swimming pool (very deep, with divingboard and tartan coating). A metal and glass staircase (or alternatively a lift) leads to the upper floor: six bedrooms, all with ensuite bathrooms and wardrobe + a large balcony with great view. In the basement: boiler rooms, laundry, storage rooms. On the ground floor a futuristic corridor leads to a second spiral staircase into the discotheque set within a UFO-shaped outbuilding. The unique style of this property makes it a cult object and a collection piece for those who love art and architecture.

Il Pozzale di Badicorte

Not a multi-millionaire but want to purchase a dream Italian abode for your holiday destination then Il Pozzale might just fit the bill.

Il Pozzale di Badicorte is a very special residence complex sitting on a hillock and surrounded by the low rolling fields of the Chiana valley. There are three buildings on the complex.

The main farmhouse has been sympathetically restored into 4 stylish apartments, each with a very different flavour yet all with an eye for retaining original features and for not compromising on interior spaces. The apartments are as follows:-

Siena - 116m2, ground floor, 3 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room and living room with stone fireplace.
Castiglion Fiorentino - 125m2, ground floor, 2 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen/dining room and large living room separated by an old brick arch.

Cortona - 137m2, first floor, 3 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen/dining room and living room with fireplace.

The secondary farmhouse has been constructed from scratch, using all traditional materials and is split into 2 two-storey apartments:

Roma - 130m2. Kitchen, living room and dining room on the ground floor, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on the first floor.
Firenze - 130m2. Same layout as Roma as a mirror image.

There is a one storey cottage adjacent to the main farmhouse building which is an attractive and independent residence of 50m2 with double bedroom, bathroom and open plan kitchen, dining and living room.

Each apartment has its own private garden as well as accesds to the communal grounds and the large, shared swimming pool. Each apartment will come with 2 parking spaces. The complex is a stone's throw from the town of Marciano della Chiana and therefore the A1 motorway exit at Monte San Savino. A very attractive area with rolling countryside and pretty villages, but also with exceptional transport links all over Tuscany.
