Purchasing property in Italy

Part of the pleasure of purchasing a property here in Italy is the actual contract of sale, or compravendita, which takes place in front of a notary. The whole contract (and we are talking pages and pages) is read out loud in Italian, and, in some cases, is translated into the language of the buyers and also read out loud by an interpreter. At the same time. It can be a fraught and emotional time for both parties; the wrench of leaving a much loved and memory filled home or a new, and slightly scary, venture into the unknown. Either way, the experience is generally an interesting one and not to be missed if you do purchase a property in Italy. For more information please take a look at our Buying Guide
